Melanie Wilhelm
Owner & Head Trainer at Wilhelm Horse Training
A life long horse trainer since her childhood in Colorado,
Melanie Wilhelm joined the ranks of professional horse
trainers in 1999 after having divided her time between a
career in education and horse training prior to that.
Using the values of hard work, integrity, and talent,
Melanie has been able to build a successful training
business outside of the traditional heartland of the
reining horse industry.
Starting colts has always been a mainstay of the
business of Wilhelm Horse Training. Whether destined
for use as a ranch horse, trail horse, or competitive
reining horse; the basic premise behind quietly and
permanently placing a solid foundation on a colt remains
the same. Each colt is evaluated as an individual and
the steps necessary to teach that colt the foundation
necessary for its job later in life will be taken.
Melanie is active in the West Texas Reining Horse
Association and is presently the all-time leading point
earner among trainers in the WTRHA. Melanie is a
member of the National Reining Horse Association and
the American Quarter Horse Association. Melanie has
successfully shown reiners at the local, regional, and
national level. Wilhelm Horse Training has the ability
and resources to train and show your horse in NRHA,
AQHA, and RHAA competition.
In addition to training and showing, Melanie also
coaches youth and Non-Pro competitors and provides
lessons to aspiring horsemen and women.
